You plan your trip around what matters. Where you’re going, what you’ve booked, and how you want the experience to feel. Your coverage should follow the same logic.
Faye’s travel insurance add-ons give you a way to customize your coverage based on how you travel. While our base plans provide a solid foundation, they may not include higher-risk activities, flexible cancellation options, or more specific needs like rental car protection. Add-ons let you build coverage around the parts of your trip that matter most.
Here’s how each of our add-ons works and when to consider them.
Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR)
Up to 75% reimbursement of non-refundable trip costs
What it covers
Faye’s Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) add-on* allows you to cancel your trip up to 48 hours before departure and still be reimbursed for a portion of your non-refundable trip costs. To be eligible, it must be purchased within 14 days of your initial trip deposit.
When to consider it
If you’re booking a higher-cost trip with non-refundable expenses, planning far in advance, or want more flexibility in case you think plans may change, this can help you avoid losing the full cost of your trip.
Rental car care
Up to $50k
What it covers
Faye’s rental car care add-on provides coverage for accidental damage to your rental vehicle, including collision, vandalism, certain natural disasters, or theft. This is primary coverage, meaning it can pay out first without requiring you to go through your personal auto insurance.
When to consider it
Worth considering if you’re renting a car during your trip, especially internationally or in destinations where repair costs can add up quickly. It can also help reduce the stress of navigating eligible damage claims through your personal auto insurance.
Adventure & extreme sports
Up to $250K for medical and transportation expenses
What it covers
Faye’s adventure & extreme sports add-on can help cover unexpected illness or injury that occurs while participating in extreme sports and activities like skydiving, bungee jumping, or cliff diving, which are often excluded from standard coverage.
When to consider it
From zip-lining through a rainforest to deep-sea diving or bungee jumping off the Macau Tower, some adventures come with added risk. This add-on can help provide coverage for select high-adrenaline activities that may not be included in standard plans, so if something unexpected happens mid-excursion, you’re not navigating it alone.
Pet care
Up to $2.5K for vet expenses and $250 for kenneling
What it covers
Faye’s pet care add-on helps cover veterinary expenses if your pet becomes sick or injured while traveling with you. It can also reimburse additional boarding costs if your return is delayed for a covered reason.
When to consider it
This is most relevant when your plans involve coordinating around your pet. For example, if your dog is traveling with you and has an emergency medical event, or staying at a boarding facility while you’re away, this helps cover unexpected urgent care or extended stays if your return is delayed.
Vacation Rental Damage Protection
Up to $3K
What it covers
Faye’s vacation rental damage protection add-on helps cover accidental damage to a vacation rental property or its contents during your stay. That can include things like furniture, appliances, or other items in the space.
When to consider it
Accidents can happen, especially in a space that isn’t your own. If you’ve booked a vacation rental property and are sharing the house with friends, traveling with kids, or staying in a higher-end property, this can help cover the cost of accidental damage.
Build your level of protection
Travel rarely goes exactly according to plan. Sometimes it’s a delayed return, a canceled excursion, or an activity that falls outside standard coverage. Travel insurance add-ons give you the flexibility to customize your protection around the details of your trip.
You don’t need every add-on. Just the coverage that fits the way you travel, so if something unexpected comes up, you’re not paying for it all out of pocket.
FAQs
When do I need to add travel insurance add-ons?
Some add-ons must be purchased within 14 days of your initial trip deposit to be eligible. In practice, that means deciding while you’re booking your trip. If you wait until closer to departure, you may lose the ability to secure valuable supplemental coverage like CFAR.
Can I add coverage after I’ve already purchased my plan?
Some add-ons can be added after purchase, but time-sensitive options like CFAR must be added within 14 days of your initial trip deposit to be eligible. You can increase your trip cost up to 48 hours before your trip begins, as long as you haven’t already incurred a loss or filed a claim. If you purchased CFAR, you can still increase your trip cost for new travel arrangements made within 14 days of booking. If you need to decrease your trip cost, you can do so within 14 days of purchasing your plan, provided you haven’t departed, incurred a loss, or filed a claim.
How do I choose which add-ons are right for my trip?
The right add-ons depend on the type of trip you’re taking and what you’d like additional protection for. If you’re booking a high-value trip or want extra flexibility around cancellation, CFAR may be worth considering. Renting a car? Rental Car Care can help cover eligible rental car damage or theft. Planning activities like skydiving or bungee jumping? Adventure & Extreme Sports may make sense for higher-risk excursions that are often excluded from standard coverage.
Do I need every add-on?
Not necessarily. Most travelers choose one or two add-ons based on the type of trip they’re taking. For example, CFAR may make sense for a higher-cost trip where added flexibility matters, while Rental Car Care may be more relevant for a road trip or renting a car internationally. The goal is to tailor your coverage to your travel plans, not add coverage you may not need.
